What are the best windshield wiper blades I can buy? Question: I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner. The stock wiper blades are crap in the winter time. I replaced them with PIAA wiper blades, and those aren't good in the winter either. When the wiper blades get cold or get some snow on ice on them, they don't make even contact on the windshield. So, as the wiper tries to clean the water, snow or dirt off the windshield, it leaves big spots where the blade is obviously not making contact with the glass. Should I upgrade to "winter blades" to avoid this, and, if so, which brand? Thanks! Answer: MotoMaster reflex are great in both winter and summer. They don't have the normal hinges so unless you have a tonne of ice on them they won't lose contact |

How do you change the windshield wiper motor on a 2000 chevy venture? Question: We know everything else there is to a car bu how to change the windshield wiper motor on this 2000 chevy venture van. Can anyone help us? Pictures or descriptions can help in any way. We need to find out about the linkage assembly, not the installation of the actual windshield wiper. Answer: Lift the plastic cover off thats on the left. You will now see the wiper motor. All you need is ratchet set and a one of those star bits (forgot size). It should come right out. Just install the new one, test and go. Make sure NO ONE turns the car on while working. Otherwise, disconnect the battery before you begin. Safety First. |

How do I get the windshield wiper fluid computer alert to turn off after filling up? Question: I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I have filled up the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, but the computer alert won't stop telling me that it's still empty. I have looked through my manual, but it only tells how to fill the reservoir. Does anybody know how I can reset the windshield wiper fluid alert on the computer or what I should do next? Answer: dear sir first thing the windshield wiper fluid sensor don't connected to engine computer it is direct sensor to the dashboard meters and some type connected to the computer only to give you text alarm not more so check the following:- in the fluid reservoir check the sensor it almost located combined with the reservoir cover or at the bottom of the reservoir disconnect its connection plug, Cleaner the connections pins by electronic cleaner Spray then back it, if solved ok if not try to make jumper between its pins in the connector if solved that mean the sensor is damaged if not that mean you have a problem in wiring connection and you need electrical man to solve it |

How do I go about getting a new windshield wiper motor? Question: We had a really severe storm with blinding rain. I believe my windshield wiper motor is not good anymore. It has 3 speed levels. The third speed seems just as slow moving like the 2nd speed for the windshield wipers. How do I go about getting a new windshield wiper motor??? Answer: Go to either Auto Zone, or any car repair place,AUTO ZONE is good because they will test your wipers, and tell you if you need a new motor, and if you do, they very well may have one in their store, and probably would put it on for you!For a small charge! Its better to get it checked by someone who knows what they are doing first, before you spend out that kind of money for another one, when maybe all you need is the wires just came loose from the storm. |

My windshield wiper blade wont run anymore, is there an easy way to verify/ fix it? Question: I jumped in my car, there was a layer of snow (and unfortunately Ice) on my drivers side windshield. I turned on the wipers to get rid of it and only one blade (the Passengers side) turned. Since then the drivers side wiper blade doesnt work. How do I check the gear that turns the wiper blade? And Can I fix it myself? Answer: Your wiper's arms are both connected to the motor via a set of arms that cause both wipers to move in a synchronized fashion. There are two likely spots where you most likely damaged your wiper by trying to push it through the snow. The first spot is where that arm connects to the individual wiper, usually hidden by a piece of plastic that screws down between your wipers. The next place is on the post where your wiper arm/blade itself attaches, on the outside of the car. Just about every car is different in how your blade attaches, but you should be able to figure it out pretty easily. Remove the entire arm and examine the post that it sits on. If you see lots of metal shavings, then thats your problem. Those shavings are supposed to be small gear teeth on the post to drive the wiper back and forth. If you still arent sure where the problem is, remove that plastic piece so you can look down into the workings of the wipers and then turn the wipers on. And yes, you can fix it on your own without too much difficulty. I've had to fix the same problem on my own vehicle. Best of luck! |

How do pine straw and leaves get underneath windshield wiper blades? Question: My windshield wipers are in good condition, don't leave any streaks, no gaps between the blades and the windshield. So why on earth is that every time I get in my car there is either pine straw, twigs, or leaves under my windshield wiper blades? Answer: You're under a tree? More precisely, you're in a location where there's enough wind to lift the blade slightly - which is enough wind to blow something under it. |

What type of windshield wiper blades does a 2005 Chevy Cobalt use and where can I buy them? Question: I bought a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt in that year, and I have not changed the wiper blades since. The blades seem to be wearing out (i.e. - They frequently fail to get about 15% of the water off of the areas they traverse), and I want to replace them. I don't know anything about windshield wiper blades. First of all, what type of blade does my car use? What is its designation? Secondly, from which stores can I cheaply buy decent brand replacements? Thanks. Answer: The factory uses a special type of wiper blade on the cobalt cars. You do not need to replace the wiper blade unless its bent. You should stop by your local chevy dealers service dept. They can replace the wiper insert (rubber part) of the wiper blade and it will work like new again. This will also cost less than replaceing the wiper blade with a aftermarket blade that will not work as well or clean as well.Best of luck. |
