What are my options with replacing a truck bed on an 89 Nissan Pick Up? Question: 1989 Nissan Pickup E Short Bed (V6) The truck bed is rusted really bad, the one wheel well is almost completely gone. My questions are do I need to replace with the same short bed? could an extended bed fit? Does it have to be the same make and model? Perhaps a Ford ranger bed will fit? Any creative ideas that I can replace it with instead of the same old truck bed? How hard will it be to removed and replace? Any answers to any of these questions would be most appreciated. thanks! Answer: Just make it a flat bed. As for using another make and model of bed. The only way way is to take measurments of the frame rails and see if the bolt pattern is the same too. Good Luck bud. |

How can I get old concrete off of a truck bed? Question: For Christmas I bought my boyfriend herculiner to redo his truck bed. I was looking in the bed of his truck today and noticed old dried concrete (quite a bit of it) from the previous owners. The bed has a worn out rhino liner in it from them also. I think the rhino liner was put in when the truck was first bought 14 years ago. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Answer: Try any of the following because all of them will work................ 1. A product called Back-Set, check with lowes or homedepot. 2. Straight uncut vinegar. 3. Muriatic acid, the stuff used in swimming pools. Spray enough of any of the above on the concrete chunks to completely saturate them and work from there and also keep enough water on hand to clean up the mess quickly and wear gloves and cover your eyes with goggles if you have sensitive eyes.......... |

What is the easiest and safest way of removing the truck bed from a 1999 dodge ram 1500? Question: I'm trying to replace the fuel pump and I want to do it by removing the truck bed which will give me more room to maneuver, and I really don't have to take down the tank. Is the truck bed too heavy to handle by two individuals? Thanks! Answer: easiest way is probably a 1 ton (yea it's overkill but better to be safe than sorry) chain hoist and straps. it's a 1 man job and it's fairly easy when done right. how I've always done it. we've used chains before to but foam pads are required when using chains to keep from damaging the paint. problem with using a block and tackle is the fact that you may bend the bed I've never had it happen but I have seen it done wrong and somebody bend the bed which sucks. you can also use straps and a 2 ton come along that becomes complicated though because of the reach that's require to operate the come along. and typically when I do a pump when I'm lifting the bed I use tow straps with loops on both ends they're easier to fit in the hook. all these things can be picked up at your local tractor supply or orchlens (think that's how it's spelled but don't know). you can also use 2 people if you're not comfortable with either one of those 2 options and sometimes it's hard to get the straps under 2 but it's easier than waiting on a buddy when you're in a hurry. just don't do it when you're drunk it won't end well at all. I've seen that happen 2. wan't pretty at all. |

But it has air shocks on the rear end and i am not sure what pressure they can be inflated to and what load in the bed would make them pop. Ok, another question. Say they were inflated to the max they were rated for, would the weight of cargo in the bed increase the psi? So, would the max psi be with cargo? Answer: Air shocks are all pressure rated. Find out what yours are rated at. |
