If you put strap locks on an acoustic electric guitar can you still plug the amp cord in? Question: I want to get some strap locks for it because I'm tired of always having to sit down when I play places but I don't know much about them for acoustic electric guitars (that's what I play mostly) the acoustic that I have shares space with the amp plug I'm afraid if I order some strap locks they will be the wrong kind and block my amp hole which one is right for me to buy? would this one work? it looks like it has a opening cap for the amp plug ? http://www.interstatemusic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_ 900289969 Answer: You do not need strap locks on an acoustic guitar. Just a strap button. They can be purchased individually and only cost about a dollar. Strap locks are only needed on heavy electric guitars. The relatively light weight of an acoustic guitar means that it will not deform the hole in the strap where the button goes through. Be sure to affix the button to the heel block of the neck and NOT to the body of the guitar. Let the store do it for you if you are not sure. |

most air condition compressor imfomation tag coming only LRA(lock roted amp) .how to convert to FLA? Question: i am air condition mechnic.so i have question in compressor.most compressor coming with details tag.but tags mentioned only LRA ( lock roted amp) how i calculate to FLA (full load amp)?any body have formula ? Answer: Locked rotor current is the same as inrush current for a motor. This is generally 600 % of the FLA. I always divided the LRA by 6 to obtain the FLA. This will be as close as one can get to the answer. All motors have differences in their electrical characteristics. TexMav |

How can a 3500 watt generator have a 25 amp breaker? Question: I have a Champion generator (model 46515) which puts out 3500 continuous watts with a standard 3 prong outlet, an RV outlet, and a twist-lock outlet. The 3 prong and the RV both use the same 20 Amp breaker and the twist lock uses a 25 Amp breaker. Does this mean that I can only use the full 3500 watts if I use the RV outlet together with one of the other 2 outlets because 25 amps at 120v is only 300 watts? Answer: I suspect the 20 amp breaker comes off the 25 amp breaker, so that the maximum, continuous power you can draw from the generator is 3 KW (3000 watts). Either that, or there's another safety device at the generator that would trip at the generator's maximum output (about 29 amps). If the breakers were wired in parallel as you assume, you could be drawing 45 amps before either breaker blew. That's 5400 watts. Since your generator is rated at 3500 watts, your assumption is unrealistic. By the way, 29 amps at 120 volts is 3000 watts, not 300. |

How to convert a 3 prong plug for my circular saw to a 4 prong 20 amp outlet? Question: I have a plug for a saw which says "CP-22B E58197 and is 3 prong and 220v plug. I need it to go into an L15-20 4 prong outlet which says 250v 20 amp. Both have circular/locking arraignments. Thanks guys, I am too low of a level to vote but I'll try what you said Answer: Four prong outlets are used in Industrial Electric. They are called Three Pole with a ground outlets. The Circ saw you have is only single phase. You'll need a different plug on the saw. Go to an electrical supply store (not HomeDepot or Radio Shack)(won't have it) You'll need a 250v 20a 3 'phase' Twist-Lock plug. When putting the plug on your saw green wire to ground terminal, black wire to 'X' terminal, and white wire to 'Y' terminal, leave 'Z' terminal empty. Or get a plug for 250v 20a 1 phase, another outlet with cord grip for the saw to plug into, and a 3ft piece of wire (3 cond) and put together an adapter so it doesn't change the saw and it can still be plugged in somewhere else |

My amp in my car is locked in protection mode whats wrong with it? Question: At first i thought it was because it wasnt grounded properly so i cahnged where i put the ground at, and then the wire started to catch on fire and melt!!! But shortly after i found this out my alternator died. So can anyone help me diagnose the problem Answer: STOP!! don't do anymore the reason you alternator probably died an the wires melted is because the amp is broken and is sucking up to much juice or you have the polarity backwards or a red and black cable are touching somewhere... take it down to a pro and see what they have to say about the situation... |

how can I connect a 240 volt 4 wire 30 amp female locking to a 240 volt 3 wire 20 amp male? Question: I am connecting a generator to a air compressor the compressor is wired as a 240 volt 20 amp Answer: Hello mini-electrician: Basically, the 30 Amp 240 volt female has a corresponding male end that is made for that female. There should be a number on it. There are many companies that make the electrical cord ends and not knowing where you live, the best I can tell is to get that number and go to an electrical supplier, retail store and get that plug. For connection of the female plug, the wiring might be like this....the black wire and the red wire are the two hot lines, 120 volts each and will be attached to the dark coloured screws, the white wire will be attached to the light coloured screw and the green wire will be your ground, the green coloured screw. For connection of the compressor, the is no neutral, hence no 120 volts, rather the two wires, black and red, are 240 volts, with the green wire going to the green screw. Let me know how this works, and if you have questions, then don't be shy, there are no stupid questions when it comes to electricity. Alex |

What is wrong with the input jack on my amp? Question: I have a fender amp and the input jack is messed up. The best I can explain is that when I plug the cord into the input jack on the amp, it doesn't "click" into place or I guess "lock" into place. It just sits in the input jack and when i move the cord any direction, it makes a very loud static noise. Help? Answer: the other thing it might be is, there's this little metal tab inside that the groove on your input rests in. That is either bent back (best case scenario) or broken off. Amps are fairly easy to take apart and put back together. I bet if you unscrew the front panel, you will see the tab is bent back as they don't normally break off too easy. If that's the case, over bend it in and when you insert your input the next time it will hold tighter eliminating the loose connection and static. The other answer that mentions soldering wires also has a possibility of being right - this would also be noticable when you take it apart. And if it is the case you can save yourself a ton of money by going to Radio Shack, buying a soldering iron for 8.99 and fixing it yourself. Good luck! |

My car was recently repaired and after getting it back, it keeps blowing the power locks/courtesy lights fuse? Question: I also found a fuse puller in my car and the 15 amp fuse was replaced with a 20 amp fuse. It didn't blow until about a day after the repairs. Was this caused by the repair shop? I have a feeling it was. Something is shorting out and I have never replaced a fuse in this car nor has my grandpa (previous owner.) What should I do to get this fixed by the people who caused it? Using a 65 Amp Alternator for power? Question: I got a friend who only has a 65 Amp Alternator. He's running an alpine 12 right now with no problem. He wants to upgrade to 2 12" Kicker CVR's... I was wondering what the most watts in RMS that his alternator will be able to handle, since it's very weak. He has a 89' Honda Accord, no power locks, or windows.. Just simple. Any help is appreciated. Answer: 65 amps at 14 volts is 910 watts. But RMS is an average measurement. 910 watts input will give you around 728 peak watts of output. RMS watts will be 500 or less. |
