what are the real advantages to haveing a AMP connected to the speakers in my doors? Question: what are the real advantages to haveing a AMP connected to the speakers in my doors in my car? Answer: Your deck has a simple mosfet (a fancy transistor) for an amplifier. Cd players will only max out at about ~25 watts rms because there's no room inside the casing to put a transformer to step up the voltage to get higher wattage, plus that transformer & more transistors etc would generate too much heat, & destroy things. Ok, the mosfet amplifies the deck's preamp signal to make it louder OR an external amp would amplify that same preamp signal to make it louder. Basically, if you turn up the volume to max on any deck, it's going to distort. But, anywhere up to about 3/4 volume will be pretty clean. So if you add an amp, it will amplify that clean-ness and hopefully get loud enough to suit your taste before the sound gets cranked to max and distorts. Plus, the more sophisticated the external amp is, the more of your music can be reproduced. Now then, if you're someone who doesn't like your music super loud, you probably won't benefit much from an amp. |

4 channel amp help playing doors and sub? Question: Ok here's the story... I know a decent amount about car audio but I can't figure out why my one door speaker won't play. I hooked the sub up on 2 of the channels on the amp and ran all 4 door speakers off the other two channels everything sounds great except 1 door speaker. And I can't for the life of me find out why just that one speaker won't play. The amp was running just the doors without the sub before and they all played. Please list even the slightest suggestions. Thanks Answer: You have a blown circuit. |

Whats the best way to run my 6.5s in the doors of my S10 to the amp in the back? Question: the speaker wires on the back of my cd player dont have sound so ima run the speakers through the amp, whats the best way to run the speakers in my door to the back of the S10 to where im going to have my amp at? help! lol. i need to run the speaker wires im goign to re run them, how can i rerun new wires without them being shown from the doors, thanks anyone.... trying to fix it all up by tomorrow. Answer: The best way to keep them out of sight is to run them exactly the way the factory did with your original equipment. This can be a job if you don't have the proper tools, but the alternatives look like crap. Once you've run them from the doors into the cab you can run them under the carpet or under the door railing to behind your seat. I don't recommend the latter, because over time all the water and dirt from your feet will seep in around your wiring and cause you some trouble. Good luck. |

Component set off amp in front doors and rear stock components off head unit? Question: Would this still sound okay? I rarely have people ride in the second row and usually I have some long car rides, so I'd like to have a better front stage up front. Thanks! Answer: Yes. It's a common practice and often recommended in a sound quality oriented set up. |

When installing an amp in a car to the speakers in the doors, what do you do with the original wires? Question: I've connected subs to a amp before but never the other speakers. Without an amp, the speakers are connected directly to the harness that goes into the head unit. Well, what do I do with those wires if I want to use an amp? Do i run wires directly from the amp to those speakers, and tape off the old ones that were connected to the harness? Answer: i usually just cut wires flush with the harness, but yes you can cover them, crimp connectors are good. you you will want to run your wires from the amp directly to the speakers, you many have to pull some trim to run the wires, take your time so it looks good and wires do not get pinched. you may be able to use the wire into the doors using the old wires.. |

how do i run the speaker cables from my amp in the boot to the speakers in the front doors? (3dr pug306)? Question: Basically i want to amplify the front door speakers but i dont know how to go about running the wires from my amp in the boot to the speakers in the front doors. The car is a 3 door peugeot 306 Answer: Nice car. Anyway, you can pull apart a metal coat hanger tape the wire to one end and thread it through the boot of the door. You may have to cut a small slit in the boot to allow for your new wire. It's a pain in the butt, but it's worth taking the time, trust me. Once through the door(Course you need the door panel off when you are attempting to do this.) Remove the connectors from the speakers tape them up some where and wire your new wires to them. Or You could try to figure out which wires go to your speakers by pulling the door panels off and pulling out the speakers check the wires and match them back at the harness of the radio. Then run the wire to the back of the radio. Good luck. |
